Sand

I suppose I should share the one I made today too, eh?

This one's real simple, soft and sandy.

Sand

Nova Prime, 8 x 5 sub-griddery, no margins or shadows, and Zooper.

Get it here.

As always, feel free to visit MyColorScreen to share some love, or share your screens on my community on Google+. You can also follow me on Twitter, or send me a high five (bucks?) if you're feeling generous.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy.

Chicago

So hey guys, it's been a while. How y'all doin'?

For those who don't know, I 'discontinued' support for my apps a little while back, and kind of fell of the wagon posting new themes and templates. Really, I can't say I'm sorry. It was a much needed break from phone world, but now I'm back.

Without any further ado,

Chicago

This one's pure Zooper and Nova Prime. 8 x 5 grid with sub-grid positioning on. No margins. No shadows.

Get it here.

I hope you guys enjoy this theme. Feel free to leave some love over on MyColorScreen, pay a visit to the community on Google+ or tweet @DroidBench!

Thanks for checking it out!

GPlus

It's Friday!

I posted a home screen up on Google+ the other day, inspired by the new mobile app design. I had seen a few pop up since the new UI overhaul and I figured I try my hand at it myself.

I used Zooper Widget Pro (of course), Nova Launcher Prime with an 8 x 5 grid, sub-grid positioning on, no margins, shadow, or notification bar. The top icons for Gmail, Hangouts and Google+ display counts when you receive notifications (using the Android Workbench companion app) and the To Do list was made using Zooper Do. You may need to fiddle with the scaling a little bit, particularly with the bitmap in the top right, depending on the size of your device's screen and the images you use.

Download the templates and resources here.

As always, thanks for reading! Follow me on Google+, Twitter, or MyColorScreen for more home screen templates and themes!

Pale Peaks

Now I know I drooled over Themer for a bit there and then I kinda disappeared, but I'm back with a quick little screen I threw together for Nova Launcher (which has seriously knocked it out of the park with the latest beta updates).

It's nothing too fancy. Two widgets placed on a 8x5 grid (sub-grid enabled) screen, no margins, no shadows, no frills. You might have to tweak it a bit as it's a little hard for me to determine how the sub-grid was used, but you'll know it when you hit the sweet spot.

I also haven't taken advantage of any of my apps (so no auto-scaling) on this screen, just Zooper, Nova, and a little bit of love.

Speaking of love, check out MyColorScreen. I think I threw a screen up there taking advantage of Zooper Do (no files - sorry!). If you do use my any of the Android Workbench apps, feel free to share your creations on the Google+ community or tweet @DroidBench with any ideas, bugs or just plain old random stuff.

Thanks for dropping by!

Oh hey! Didn't see you there...

Hey guys!

Been awhile, eh?

I've been busy. I got a promotion at work, I'm doing this Themer Beta Beta (Beta, beta, beta, beta...) thing, and hey, look at this!

A NEW APP!!!

And check this out!

A screenshot! (Shock and awe!)

...or two...

...so minimal...

...such Zooper...

Well that was a little disappointing...

I could have sworn I took some more. I'd check, but my phone's dead 'til morning.

Oh well...

Did I mention the NEW APP!?

Boom.

Get it? It's a to do list made specifically for Zooper!

...

Zooper.

Do.

...

Anyone?

...

Well I thought it was a catchy name.

Anyway, here it is! I'll post a link here so you can check it out. It's not free, but it'd the first of it's kind (as far as I know). There's no need for any external apps, except Zooper. BTW I hope you guys are still enjoying the Android Workbench and Zooper Counts apps (I'm still taking feature requests - read the review on ZC - I'll listen!) and I sincerely hope you like this new one too.

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll try to come around again a little more often...with more screenshots of course!

...and maybe another NEW APP!!!!

I bet you thought there actually was another new one ;)

Damn I'm clever.

Cheers!

Orbital

Happy Saturday to you all!

This week saw a minor hiccup with Themer, but the developers very quickly fixed that right up. Also, I've updated the Android Workbench and Zooper Counts apps to support Pinterest (PINIT), Snapchat (SNAPC), and Vine (VINES). That being said, I only have one screen for y'all this week. I hope you like it!

This one's an Auto-Scaling screen, created with Themer, Zooper Widget, Media Utilities, and Android Workbench (Zooper Counts will work too). This, like many (Read: All) of my other screens requires at least one of the two for it to work properly.

Themer users can download the ZIP here.

For those who prefer a different launcher, get it here.

This screen has a 16 row, 9 column grid with no margins, padding, shadows, dock, etc. The top and bottom widgets are 3 high and 9 wide, placed one square from the top and bottom edges. The middle music Widget is 8 high and 7 wide placed right in the center. Just size your screen and widgets, and whatever size your screen may be, the contents will (should - nobody's really gotten back to me on that) adjust to fit your device's screen resolution.

Please feel free to leave your comments, questions, or a friendly +1. Share it with your friends! Follow me @DroidBench on Twitter, on MyColorScreen, or join the Android Workbench community on Google+ and share your stuff!

I had donate apps available that I ended up taking down form the Play Store because I thought it seemed a bit greedy, but if you would like to show your monetary support, there is a PayPal Donation button somewhere on here...

Finally, if you like the app(s) but think there's something missing, not working, or a feature/app you'd really like to see supported, drop me a line and I'll do my best to work it into the next update.

Blurred Perception

Hello everybody!

I hope you're enjoying this weekend's screens, particularly the auto-scaling of Soft and Serene.

Today's screen is unfortunately not an auto-scaler since Zooper Widget doesn't support rectangle outlines in Advanced Parameters (yet?), so everyone without a 720p device will unfortunately have to scale it themselves.

This screen uses Themer (but any old launcher will do), one Zooper Widget filling the entire screen, and of course, the Android Workbench companion app for the notifications (Zooper Counts works too for those on an Android Version lower than 4.3). You must have Android Workbench/Zooper Counts installed for the notification features to work. For this screen, the Google+ and Hangouts icons will increase in size when there are new notifications waiting for you.

Themer users can download the ZIP file here.

If you're not using Themer, you can download the template and resources here.

Please share, +1, and comment below with any questions, comments or complaints. As always, you can tweet @DroidBench or join the community on Google+ to show off your homescreens, modifications of mine, or leave bug reports or feature requests for the apps.

Howdy.

Got me a home screen here that I think you're going to like.

Two screens. Two widgets.
As usual, Nova Launcher 16 x 9, no margins or shadows, using Android Workbench for the notification counts.

There was probably more that I could have done with this screen, but I feel the beauty of it is in the simplicity. You can download the templates, font and wallpaper here.

Let me know what you think in the comments below, or drop in to the Android Workbench community on Google+ and show off your setup. I'd love to see what you guys are doing, how you're using the Android Workbench App, or what you think of my screens. You can follow me on Twitter @DroidBench, on MyColorScreen, or on Google+. If you're feeling generous, please don't hesitate to leave a donation via PayPal.

As always, thanks for reading, downloading, and giving this a try! If you know someone who's into Android customization and they haven't heard about the 'Bench, feel free to share this blog and leave a +1.

Time to hit the ol' dust trail...

Inner Peace

Lucky for me, I literally just finished this one before I was inspired by a post shared by +chris augustine and set off on my next project.

This one's pretty simple. Nova Prime with my usual settings, Zooper Widget and the Android Workbench companion app.

For anyone who hasn't tried it themselves, the AW companion app allows for unread notification counts (among other things) in Zooper Widget.

You can download the templates and resources here.

Try it out! Share it with your friends, family, neighbours (What? I'm Canadian), that creepy guy on the subway, or anyone with an eye for beautiful android home screens. Feel free to +1, join the AW community tweet @DroidBench, Facebook it (I should really get a page, eh?), or drop me a line with any questions, comments, suggestions, and/or constructive criticism.

As always, thanks for reading!

Weathered

This was a project that was inspired by +Binod Ray's home screen, shared by +chris augustine. Chris had the idea that the wallpaper should change with the weather conditions and I thought it was such a great idea, I thought I'd make it myself! Now, Zooper Widget, though an endlessly wonderful app, has a bit of an issue with bitmap scaling, so the images are a little distorted. That being said, I still think I did a pretty good job...

This was made with Nova Prime, a 16 x 9 grid, no margins or shadows, blah, blah blah. If you follow this blog, you know the drill. This time (if you don't already have it enabled), you will need to allow overlapping widgets.

The dynamic weather widget is in the back, 7 x 16, squashed right up next to the right side of the screen.

Next comes the bottom, triangular notification widget. This one is 7 x 9. The icons at the bottom will increase in size when you receive new notifications (shameless plug alert) courtesy of the Android Workbench companion app.

Finally, the comes the top clock and weather widget at 7 x 10. I did my best to replicate the original for those who want something similar, but I did make a few changes because, hey, I'm different. Of course, you're free to apply the original widgets and icons if you so desire.

To apply this this theme, download the templates and resources here, copy the Weathered Images folder into the Zooper Widget bitmaps folder using your favourite file explorer, and copy the .ttf into the font folder. Once that's done, go nuts!

For the Android Workbench companion app settings, open the app, go into 'Apps' and select Dialer (DIALR), Gmail (GMAIL), Google+ (GPLUS), Hangouts (HNGTS) and Twitter (TWTTR). You can, as always, choose the ones you use more frequently, and if you don't see an app you want on the list, LET ME KNOW!!!

Feel free to share this with your friends, show off your setups on the AW community, +1 on Google+, tweet @DroidBench, pass it around it on Facebook (I feel so unclean asking you to do that), or drop me a line the old fashioned way.

Thanks for reading!

Temporary

This one's just a quick screen I threw together. It took me a while but I finally found a glyph font that has Hangouts, Google+ and Gmail icons!

Using Nova Launcher (16 x 9, no margins, and no shadow) Android Workbench app (which also requires AutoNotification PRO) and Media Utilities.

Get the templates, wallpaper, and fonts here.

Faded Grey

This one's just a simple home screen made with Nova Launcher, Zooper Widget Pro and the Android Workbench companion app. Two widgets, each 9 x 8, on a margin-free 16 x 9 screen with no shadows. I realized I didn't mention that I've enabled a swipe-up gesture to open the app drawer in my last post, hence the lack of and app drawer shortcut. I've done the same with this one so there's no need for anything extra; Just nice, clean, and simple.

The text changes colour from the faded #44ffffff to a brighter #aaffffff when you receive a new notification, or when the battery is charging. Of course, the notification information is generated by the Android Workbench companion app, and you simply input the codes #TGMAIL#, #TGPLUS# and #THNGTS#.

Here are the two templates, font and wallpaper.

Give it a try! Feel free to +1, share, comment, or move on over to the Play Store and download the companion app! Thanks for reading!

Android Workbench Companion App

Hey guys! It's not pretty, it's probably not entirely working, but here it is! The Android Workbench companion app!

Yeah, it's a little bare bones right now, but it should help to make applying my templates a little easier. No more mucking about with the Tasker profiles, uploading or importing. Simply download this app (which unfortunately also requires you to have AutoNotification Pro plugin, Zooper Widget Pro, and Media Utilities...but NO TASKER!!!) and you're good to go! Please note that permissions are only to allow the app to function immediately upon start-up and to count the amount of music files you have in your Music/ directory. Also, until I can manage to scrape together the money to open a developer account on the Play Store (yeah, I'm that broke) you'll have to keep an eye here for updates. To install, you WILL need to allow unknown sources in you security settings (for now). If you have any suggestions for further apps you'd like to see populate your Zooper widgets let me know! I'd be more than happy to make this even more functional and easy for you to not only apply my themes, but create new ones yourself.

*UPDATE* NOW AVAILABLE ON THE PLAY STORE!

Share this with anyone you know who wants to include things like Google+ notifications and more in their widgets. Leave a comment below, or even send me an email with your bug reports, ideas, or suggestions. Thanks for reading! See you next time!

Gateway, Sunrise, and Mission Control

So I know I posted on Google+ last week that I would have something new up on the weekend and that I was working on something new to make applying these themes easier. However, I overestimated the amount of time I was going to have and unfortunately have only got around to posting this now. I have been working on something to help with applying my templates, but unfortunately it's not ready for a beta release...yet. Regardless, I've got three more screens for you guys. Enjoy!

Gateway

You may have seen this one on Google+ already if you're a part of the MyColorScreen or Zooper Widget Awesome Beta Testers communites. I used a flat white background, then placed the widgets over top. I know, I could have set the widget background colour to white, but I like to make you guys work for it...ok maybe not that much. Here's a great app for single colour wallpapers, although I'm sure you can find something similar. Remember, as always, I'm using Nova Launcher Prime, 16 x 9, no margins or shadows, with the notification bar hidden. Als,o for those with on-screen navigation keys, I would highly recommend flashing a custom ROM that enables expanded desktop mode. I use these settings for all my home screens so if it's any different in the future, I'll let you know. Of course you'll need the latest Tasker beta, Zooper Widget Pro beta, and the AutoNotification beta with unlock key (downloaded in-app or via Play Store).

Templates and Tasker profiles can be found here. Be sure to download the fonts MyColorScreen has so graciously made available through their Themer resource files. I feel bad that I'm not at least encouraging you to download their app. If you feel bad too you can always download Themer, and pull the fonts out yourself.

Sunrise

This is a much simpler theme. It's very basic; only one rather large widget per screen. I used the flip scroll effect in Nova Launcher, but of course you can choose what suits your preference. You'll need Tasker, Zooper and AutoNotification (Pro and betas for each) as well as Media Utitlies for this one. Isn't it just so pretty and peaceful?

Relax, here's the templates and profiles.

Mission Control

I also posted this one on Google+ not too long ago. It's fairly simple with some clear drawing mode cuts and transparency. The progress bar on the first screen is your battery level, and the second screen's progress bar is the track play time. Also, the circles on the time and notifications screen will change if you've received a new notification, or if the battery is charging. Again, I borrowed the icon font from the Themer app so thanks again to everyone at MyColorScreen for being so awesome.

Templates and profiles? BOOM! (man, I'm steali...I mean borrowing everything from MyColorScreen today).

I'm working hard on keeping these screens coming and I hope you guys enjoy trying them out. Hopefully I'll have a beta release of the Android Workbench Widget Helper ready for you guys sometime in the next little while so you can easily download a theme and have it ready to go in no time. As always, thanks for reading and supporting my work. Feel free to leave a comment below, share with your friends, or even just +1. Let me know if things are working for you or any bugs you might find, send me an email or follow me on Google+. See you next time!

Dreamer

I want start by saying thanks to everyone who checked out my last post. I hope everyone who followed the tutorial or download the templates turned some heads rocking that home screen. Of course, we all know our devices can't stay with one look for long. So without any further ado, I'd like to introduce:

Dreamer

You better clear your calendars, kids. Weighing in at just widgets, this theme is a force to be reckoned with. Aside from the clock widget and app drawer shortcut, each piece has something special. It's the little things, really.

Here we go...

As always, you'll need Zooper and Tasker. You'll also need to download (if you haven't, of course) Media Utilities. You just need it. Trust me. You're always going to need it. You might also want to check out Album Art Grabber. It's extremely useful, although not entirely necessary if you're not lazy like me. Also, since you all read my last post and downloaded AutoNotification, I won't need to leave a link to it here...or here. Oh and Nova Launcher. Prime.

Make sure you have labs enabled (again), 16 x 9 grid and no margins. Disable dock, status bar, and find a way to get rid of that navigation bar (if you have one).
You also need to open up Media Utilities, grant Notification Access, and check off Zooper, all the experimental features, and change the cover art size to 720 (or whatever your horizontal pixel count may be on your device).

Clock and Battery Widget

At the top of the screen, add a Zooper widget and resize it to 9 x 1. Set the widget background to #ff444444. Add a rich text module, center left anchor, and X offset at 10. Font family is Roboto-Light, size is 20 and change the text to:

#Dhh:mm#[s=15]#Da#[/s]

Set the blur to 25 and the shadow's X and Y offsets to 5 each.

Now add another rich text module, center right anchor, and X offset to 10 as well. Use the same font family and size as above, but change the text to:

#BLEV#$#BSTAT#!=Discharging?+$

Same blur settings as above too, except the X offset is -5.

I've also set the module OnTap action for the time to open the clock, the battery opens the battery stats settings shortcut and I've disabled the OnTap action for the widget.

Done!

App Drawer

This widget is 9 x 1 as well, with the same widget background colour, #ff444444, except we're putting it at the bottom of the screen. Add a rectangle with a center right anchor. Set the width to 41 and the height to 40. Set the colour to #ff000000, and set the blur to 50.

Next, add another rectangle with the same anchor, no offsets, width and height to 40, and colour set to #ff444444. Set the OnTap action for this one to the Nova Launcher, App Drawer action.

Finally, add a text module, set the X offset to 10, change the font family to Roboto-Bold, change the text to ... , and set the font size 25. Set rotate to 90, blur to 25, and shadow X offset to 5. Disable the widget OnTap action then we'll move on to the next one.

Album Art

This is where Media Utilities comes in. First, download the awesome wallpaper here. Once you've done that, add a bitmap module and select the wallpaper for your bitmap image (you can use a different one if you like, I don't mind). Set the screen anchor to center top then scroll down to advanced parameters and input the following text:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=1?#TMU_COVERART#$
$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=1?[oy]-50[/oy]:[oy]0[/oy]$

These two lines will check if music is currently play and change the image to the album art and shift it upwards a little bit.

Next, we'll add a rectangle, anchored at screen top, Y offset to -9, with a width of 37 and a height of 10. Change the colour to black (#ff000000) and set the blur to 50.

Go back, long-press on the rectangle you just created, tap the overlapping rectangles with the little + in them, and change the screen anchor to center bottom. This creates an exact replica of the rectangle you just created, but puts it on the bottom instead. I've renamed the modules Shadow Top and Shadow Bottom just so I could tell the difference, but you don't need to do that.

Now we'll add a progress bar. Set the anchor to bottom left, then scroll down to edit the progress min/max values. Make sure Min is set to 0, change Value to #TMU_PLAYTIME#, and Max to #TMU_TRACK_LENGTH#. This creates a moving progress bar that will follow the current song you're listening to. Neat!

Keep the FG colour white, but set the BG colour to #00000000 (100% transparent). Set the width to 360, height to 5, blur to 50, and change the shadow colour to white (#ffffffff). This makes it look like it's glowing.

Then you'll want to move on to advanced parameters to input this string:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?[oy]-50[/oy]:[oy]0[/oy]$

This will cause the progress bar to hide when there isn't any music playing.

Finally, we're going to add another rectangle with an anchor on the bottom left, Y offset at -5. Turn the corners up to 10, or 20, or anything higher than the height and width, then set the blur to 50, and shadow colour to white. That's going to glow too. Time for more advanced parameters:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?[oy]-50[/oy]:[oy]-5[/oy]$
[ox]$((360/#TMU_TRACK_LENGTH#)*#TMU_PLAYTIME#)$[/ox]

The first line will hide this rectangle (now a circle) when music isn't playing. The second line will cause the circle to move along the bottom of the screen as the song progresses.

Finally, finally, set your OnTap action to open whichever music player you normally use (you might have to switch if it's not supported by Media Utilities. Sorry guys).

Next!

Now Playing

As you can probably see, I've added a few songs since the screenshot at the beginning of this article was taken, but that's beside the point. Set the widget background colour to #ff444444 and add a rich text module. Change the module OnTap action to the Play/Pause Media Utilities shortcut, and scroll down and change the text to:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?Tap here to play music
[sr=0.5](#TSONGCOUNT# Songs)[/sr]:#TMU_TRACK#
[sr=0.5]#TMU_ARTIST# - #TMU_ALBUM#[/sr]$

This will display 'Tap here to play music' with the number of songs available on your device shown below. I haven't tested this, but in order for this to work I made sure all my music was copied loose into the Music folder on my device and not organized in artist or album sub-folders. When music is playing it will display the song title with the artist's name and album title below.

Set the X margin to 175 (your device may require a higher/lower number), font size to 20, font family to Roboto-Light, and blur to 25 with shadow Y offset to 5. In advanced parameters, enter this:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=1&&#TTRACKNAMELENGTH#>25?[s]15[/s]:[s]20[/s]$

This will resize your text if music is playing AND (&&) the track's name length is greater than 25 characters.

Next create a text module with a center left anchor, X offset of 10 and Y offset of 5. Change the module OnTap action to the Previous Track Media Utilities shortcut and change the text to <. If you long press the < key on your keyboard you can select the more vertically stretched/horizontally squashed version that I used in this widget. Set the font size to 50 and family to Roboto-Thin. Change the blur to 25 and shadow Y offset to 5...again. In advanced parameters, input:

$#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?[ox]-50[/ox]:[ox]10[/ox]$

This will, as above, hide the arrow when the music isn't playing. After that, clone the module, change the < to > and module OnTap to Next Track Media Utilities shortcut.

Done.

Almost there...

Google+ Feed

Last one, then on to Tasker.

Start by changing the widget background colour to #f333333. The first two modules are rectangles anchored in the center on the top and bottom with Y offset at -9. The width is set to 370 and height stays at 10. Change the colour to black (#ff000000) and set blur to 50.

Next add a rich text (or plain text. Sorry, force of habit) module. Set the anchor to top left, X offset to 20, and Y offset to 15. Change the text to say Google+ Notifications: and set the font size to 20 and font family to Roboto-Light. Blur, of course, to 25 and shadow Y offset to 5.

This next one needs to be rich text. Screen anchor is top left as well, X offset to 20 and Y offset to 60. Change the text to say:

#TGPLUSTITLE1#:
#TGPLUSTEXT1#
#TGPLUSTITLE2#:
#TGPLUSTEXT2#
#TGPLUSTITLE3#:
#TGPLUSTEXT3#
Change the X margin to 40 and lines to 10, font size to 15 and font family to Roboto-Light. Set the blur to the standard 25 and shadow Y offset to 5 (did I even need to say?)

Oh yeah...add a quick rectangle, center top anchor, Y offset to 50, width at 330 and height at 1.

Set the widget OnTap action to open Google+ and BAM we're done. How about a break? 'Cause I'm like this right now...

TASKER TIME! LET'S PARTY!!!

Create a profile called Get Track Name Length and choose the plugin state, Media Utilities State Play State Updated. Create a new task and give it the same name. Add If and change it so %isplaying ~ true. Then add the Test action, change type to variable length, data to %track, and store result in %TRACKNAMELENGTH. Add an else task, then variable set with the name set to %TRACKNAMELENGTH and To to 0. Then add List Files in Dir Music/ and store the result in %SONGNAMES. Add a variable set action and set %SONGCOUNT to %SONGNAMES(#). Next, add the Zooper Widget Pro Variable plugin and set ZW variable to SONGCOUNT and ZW text to %SONGCOUNT. Add an end if action, then add another Zooper Widget Pro Variable plugin action to set ZW variable to TRACKNAMELENGTH with ZW text to %TRACKNAMELENGTH.

Next add another profile called Get New Track Name Length and choose the plugin state, Media Utilities State New Track, then choose the Get Track Name Length task.

Finally (Yeah, I thought there would be more too), add an AutoNotification Intercept plugin state for Google+ for created notifications only, notification app set to Google+, and package name set to com.google.android.apps.plus. Name it Google+ Feed and let's begin the task construction.

Add the array push and set the name to %GPLUSTITLE, position 1, withe the value %antitle. Clone that action but change the name and value to %GPLUSTEXT and %antext. After this, add 2 Zooper Widget Pro Variable plugin actions; One with ZW variable to GPLUSTITLE1 and ZW text to %GPLUSTITLE1, and one with GPLUSTEXT1 and %GPLUSTEXT1 (noticing a pattern here?). Clone these actions a couple times and replace the 1's with 2's and 3's so your final result matches the screenshot above, then add a variable clear action to clear %GPLUSTITLE(3:), clone THAT and make the new one clear %GPLUSTEXT(3:).

That's it! We're done. Holy crap on a stick, no wonder I split the last one up. That was a trek. Congratulations, you are now a Dreamer too! As a reward for having gone through this lengthy and probably tedious tutorial, here's a link to everything. So you can compare what you've done with what I've made.

As always, thanks for reading, and feel free to +1, share, comment, or complain. See you next time!

$#TVISITCOUNT#>1?Welcome back, friends!:Welcome!$

I'm a nerd. Deal with it.

Hey guys! Here comes another home screen filled to the brim with awesome-sauce! This one took me a little bit since I wanted to implement a feature I've never seen before with Zooper. Of course, the internet is a pretty big place so I'm not going to say I'm the first to do this, but I know after this post I'm not going to be the only one!

I know you're probably asking, "Why is the text all out of order?" or maybe "Why is he always listening to Tool?" First of all, Tool is awesome. End of story. Second, I've created a ticker text widget [insert maniacal laughter]! Yeah, yeah, not so exciting, but to create something like this for yourself with Tasker and Zooper is extremely satisfying. Now, I will warn you, it's not without its bugs. Occasionally the text will have a pretty big lag, and sometime the letters really do come in out of order, but hey, it works!

Set the Nova Launcher Prime desktop settings to (with labs enabled) 16 x 9, no margins, no shadows.

You'll also need Zooper Widget Pro (Beta? Sign me up!) and Tasker (Also beta!) as well as AutoNotification Pro, Media Utilities Beta...and maybe a box of Krispy Kremes. You guys knew that already though.

You can download the Zooper templates and Tasker project here, and if you'd like, check out the rest of my posts! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for future posts, feel free to do so in the comments below. I'm open to any ideas and I'd like to see what you guys are doing to add to or improve on my templates. Let me know what you think! +1 and share!

Thanks for reading!

Steel Tech

I think I'm on a roll with these home screens. I certainly hope you guys are enjoying the templates and turning some heads. How about some more?

I like to call this one Steel Tech. I'm becoming a fan of layering rectangles to create fades and transparency effects. Although I've only posted a screenshot of one, this setup includes three screens. I've set the Nova Launcher grid to 16 x 9 with no margins. I also made sure that shadows are turned on and the scroll effect is set to wipe.

To set this one up, download the files from here, copy the font into your Zooper Widget font folder and import the Tasker project. Then, place the widgets. The top widget on each screen is the Steel Tech - Album Art and Status widget. The other three go on the bottom of each separate screen. The cool thing about the wipe effect is that it creates the illusion that only part of the screen has changed as long as everything else is exactly the same. Of course, you can also change the apps that are monitored by changing the Tasker AutoNotification states' package names and monitored apps, as well as the variables that are transmitted to Zooper. If you've been following my blog, you'll know what apps you'll need (and that you'll probably need the beta versions of all of them to make it work).

Let me know what you think in the comments below, +1 and share with your friends!
